The Municipality of Genova promotes sustainable mobility through a network of bike stations, cycle parking facilities, and cycling routes, encouraging the use of bicycles as a safe and efficient alternative to private vehicles. With modern and integrated infrastructure, the city is enhancing cycling transport, improving accessibility, and fostering intermodal solutions.
BIKE STATIONS
The Municipality of Genoa has created equipped bike storage areas in strategic locations across the city, providing a dedicated service for those choosing sustainable mobility. This initiative is part of the city's efforts to promote the use of eco-friendly transport and encourage a more efficient, safe, and accessible urban mobility system.
The bike stations are built with metal structures, featuring glass and steel paneling, double-deck bike racks, and repair stations. They are managed through a digital network and can be accessed via a dedicated subscription-based app. These facilities play a key role in developing cycling mobility and shifting transport demand from private to public means, facilitating intermodal transportation.
The first six bike stations built:
- BRIGNOLE STATION
- DARSENA
- PIAZZA DANTE
- GENOVA PRA’
- GENOVA BOLZANETO
- GENOVA CORNIGLIANO

CYCLE PARKING
The Municipality of Genoa has established cycle parking areas in key city locations, within spaces made available by the administration. These facilities allow cyclists to park their bicycles securely, offering additional minor maintenance services through equipped repair stations.
The service will be managed through a digital network and will be accessible via a dedicated app, ensuring a convenient, innovative, and fully integrated experience within the city's sustainable mobility system.

Valpolcevera Cycling and Pedestrian Path (Completion by June 2025)
Funded by PNRR – m2c2 - 4.1.2 - Strengthening cycling routes and related services in Genoa
A 14 km pedestrian and cycling route along the right bank of the Polcevera Valley, connecting Fiumara to Pontedecimo. The project ensures continuity and safety by integrating existing pedestrian paths with new signage and traffic-calmed zones (Zone 30). A green corridor will run parallel to the route. The first section from Trasta to Pontedecimo is currently under construction.
URBAN BIKE LANES (CITY CENTER - EASTERN AND WESTERN DISTRICTS)
Funded by PNRR m2c2 - 4.1.2
Urban bike lanes are implemented where road dimensions do not allow for a standard 1.5-meter-wide dedicated cycling track. These lanes enhance cyclist safety while making minimal modifications to the existing road infrastructure, ensuring smooth coexistence between bicycles and motor vehicles.
