Urban Regeneration

The Green Plan of the city of Genova is an ambitious project aimed at guiding the regeneration of public spaces and promoting climate change mitigation and adaptation. Through interventions designed to enhance livability, sustainability, comfort, quality, inclusivity, safety, and the usability of urban areas, the Plan places public areas at its core, recognizing them as strategic resources for collective well-being.

Il Piano del Verde della città di Genova è un progetto ambizioso che mira a guidare la rigenerazione degli spazi pubblici e a promuovere la mitigazione e l'adattamento ai cambiamenti climatici. Attraverso interventi orientati a migliorare la vivibilità e sostenibilità, il comfort, la qualità, l’inclusività, la sicurezza e la fruibilità delle aree urbane, il Piano pone al centro le aree ad uso pubblico, valorizzandole come risorse strategiche per il benessere collettivo.

The Transformation Districts identify urban areas designated for complex interventions aimed at radically transforming the physical appearance and functionality of significant portions of the municipal territory. These areas are often characterized by abandoned industrial zones, public or private structures that have outlived their purpose, or neglected urban spaces. Through the Urban Plan, these zones undergo deep renewal, creating new opportunities for development.

The project for the Parco della Lanterna, which encompasses the lighthouse symbol of the city of Genoa, represents a unique opportunity to restore an area of great historical and cultural significance to the city, currently affected by the intertwining of port infrastructures. This new 6-hectare park redefines the relationship between the city, port, sea, and Lanterna, evoking Genoa’s past while shaping a vision for its future.

Il progetto per il Parco della Lanterna, che abbraccia il faro simbolo della città di Genova, rappresenta un’opportunità unica per restituire alla città un’area di grande valore storico e identitario, oggi coinvolta dall’intreccio delle infrastrutture portuali. Questo nuovo parco di circa 6 ettari ridefinisce il rapporto tra città, porto, mare e Lanterna, rievocando il passato di Genova e tracciando una visione per il futuro.

Il Comune di Genova attraverso l’assistenza finanziaria del PN Metro PLUS e Città Medie del Sud 2021-2027, intende dare attuazione al progetto “Confessioni Culturali”, che si pone l’obiettivo di recuperare, rifunzionalizzare e ri-brandizzare all’uso civico il complesso di Sant’Agostino, uno dei più importanti di Genova.

With financial assistance from the PN Metro PLUS and Città Medie del Sud 2021-2027, the Municipality of Genova aims to implement the Cultural Confessions project. This initiative focuses on restoring, re-functionalizing, and rebranding the Sant’Agostino complex, one of the city's most significant landmarks, for civic use.

Within the Darsena (the dock area), connecting Old Port, Old Town, Maritime Station and some of the main logistic hubs, a sustainable urban regeneration of two ancient buildings, Tabarca and Metelino, is planned. They will become polyfunctional spaces, improving the area and linking various parts of the city. The regeneration of the site will extend pedestrian and cycle paths for a sustainable mobility, offering   new meeting points to students.

Nell’ambito dell’area della Darsena, punto strategico di connessione tra Porto Antico, Centro Storico, Stazione Marittima ed alcuni dei principali snodi logistici della città è prevista la riqualificazione sostenibile di due palazzi adiacenti al Museo del Mare, Tabarca e Metelino, i quali verranno adibiti a nuovi spazi polifunzionali che riqualificheranno la zona e connetteranno il centro storico con la zona della Darsena.
