Liguria is becoming an increasingly popular destination for foreigners looking for a new home in Italy. According to an annual report from a well-known real estate portal, the region has seen a steady increase in housing requests over the past four years, with a growth of 93.28%.

In 2024, the United States was the most active nationality, representing 21.46% of total requests, followed by Germany, France, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, and Switzerland.

The Gulf of Tigullio area recorded the highest number of requests, accounting for 14.32% of the region’s total and showing an annual growth of 32.7% compared to 2023. Among the provinces, Imperia is the most requested with 39.18% of total requests, followed by Genoa, Savona, and La Spezia. At the municipal level, the favorite destinations are Portofino, Sanremo, Bordighera, and Ceriana.

Apartments are the most requested type of housing (with a strong increase for historic ones), followed by villas and independent houses. Foreign buyers prefer properties that are already restored or habitable, with an area of over 120 square meters, and most requests concern a budget of less than 250,000 euros. The average value of properties requested in 2024 was 518,704 euros.
