4T4, the new startup for logistics fleet optimization, presented in Genoa

05/05/2026

On April 21st, the presentation announcing the launch of the new startup 4T4 was held at the Genova Blue District. The startup is promoted by CDP Venture Capital and developed with the support of Cariplo Factory and Bridgemaker, together with industrial and institutional investors active between Genoa and Trieste.

The project involves the creation of a decision intelligence platform for road transport companies, with the aim of reducing waiting times and improving operational efficiency.

The initiative was created to address a widespread critical issue: every day, thousands of trucks remain stationary for over two hours at the gates of port terminals and logistics hubs, having to face traffic peaks and complex operational constraints. According to estimates, this inefficiency can reduce operational capacity by up to 30%; for an SME, this can translate into a loss of approximately 2,200 euros per month for each idle vehicle.

"Traditional Transport Management Systems optimize 'on paper', assuming ideal conditions, but fail when faced with delays, unforeseen events, and the complexity of logistics node constraints",

states Tommaso Baù, CEO of 4T4, highlighting how fleet planning is still a fragmented activity not adequately supported by algorithms capable of integrating external constraints and operational uncertainty. He adds:

"We are not proposing yet another TMS that optimizes on paper, but an orchestrator that understands the real world and coordinates transporters, logistics hubs, and port terminals."

4T4 aims to improve fleet management by integrating external constraints and variables related to terminals. The goal is to overcome planning that is still too rigid and unresponsive to unforeseen events, making it more efficient and flexible. The platform also coordinates the relationships between transporters and logistics infrastructures.

Initial trials were conducted with strategic partners, including PSA Italy. In this regard, Enrico Noseda, CEO of Maritime Ventures and Chief Innovation Officer of Cariplo Factory, highlighted:

"Congestion at terminals is a critical issue that impacts not only thousands of SMEs and operators but also the surrounding areas. 4T4 responds to this challenge with a solution capable of transforming fleet management in Europe; the validation obtained with a strategic partner like PSA Italy confirms its great potential."

Alessandro Terrile, Deputy Mayor and Councilor of the Municipality of Genoa for relations between the port and the city, commented:

"Genoa is a city that lives off the port and with the port, and any innovation capable of improving the integration between these two dimensions has a strategic value for the entire territory. Congestion at terminals does not only concern logistics operators, but has direct repercussions on urban traffic, citizens' quality of life, and the competitiveness of the economic system. Solutions like 4T4 demonstrate how digital innovation can concretely contribute to making flows more efficient, reducing waiting times, and building a more effective dialogue between transporters and terminals. As the Municipality of Genoa, we continue to support initiatives that foster this integration, because improving the fluidity of port traffic also means making the city more livable and sustainable."
