Genova-based start-up Corticale s.r.l. challenges Elon Musk's Neuralink with SiNAPS project

Corticale s.r.l., an example of Italian excellence in the field of neurotechnology, was founded at the Italian Institute of Technology in Genova but is set to revolutionise the treatment of neurological diseases internationally, competing with companies such as Elon Musk's Neuralink.

The SiNAPS project concerns an intracortical sensor equipped with about a thousand electrodes to be implanted in the cerebral cortex to pick up electrical signals directly from neurons, presenting the competitive advantage of using activity devices that allow more precise and less invasive recording of neuronal activity.

The start-up aims to start human trials by 2026 in order to obtain the necessary certifications for clinical application to bring the attention of the international scientific community to the innovative solutions based in Genova.
