Genoa Airport: Record Growth in the First Two Months of 2025
Genoa Airport recorded a significant increase in passenger traffic in the first two months of 2025, handling over 156,000 passengers, with a growth of 14.2% compared to the same period in 2024. This result also surpasses pre-Covid data from 2019, with an increase of 6%, making 2025 the best start of the year ever for the airport.
In February, the airport welcomed 79,714 passengers, marking a 19.7% increase compared to February 2024. Flight movements also increased by 12.8%. Domestic traffic grew by 12.1%, while international traffic saw a surge of 34.9%. The most popular destinations were Rome, Tirana, and Catania.
Key factors contributing to this growth include increased flight frequencies and capacities by KLM to Amsterdam, enhanced flights to Tirana, a new flight to Budapest operated by Wizzair, and increased capacity by Ryanair on domestic routes to Bari, Palermo, and Catania, as well as to London.
The results from February consolidate the positive trend already observed in January, when the airport registered 76,907 passengers, with a 9% increase compared to January 2024.
This particularly positive result is due to the airport's revitalization efforts, which include expanding and modernizing airport facilities, and was achieved thanks to the increase and strengthening of connections and the commitment of the entire airport organizational structure.
