Inauguration of "Parco delle Dune" of Genova Pra': from port district to attractive and inclusive place
Today, at 11.30 a.m., "Parco delle Dune" of Genova Pra' was inaugurated. The park covers 40,000 square metres in the final stretch of the Prà calm basin in Genova. This new space transforms the buffer strip into an inclusive entertainment centre, suitable for everyone.
This project aims to restore the neighbourhood's proximity to the sea and nature, mitigating port activity and transforming it into an inclusive meeting place with a clear landscape and historical-cultural identity.
The Pra' neighbourhood is establishing itself as Genova's sports hub, thanks to its numerous sports facilities, outdoor equipment, paddle, athletics and parcourts, cycle paths and pedestrian routes.
The park follows this line, offering cycle paths, outdoor sports equipment and pedestrian paths. All this will be surrounded by a vast flora that will contribute to the reduction of CO2 and increase biodiversity, making Genova greener and more resilient. You will be able to admire the surrounding landscape, the canal, the main local points of interest and the harbour from majestic relaxation terraces with sun loungers, children's playgrounds and animal areas.
Protagonists of the Dune Park are the thematic green bays, parallel to the coastline:
- The play bay, intended for children's entertainment, with anti-trauma paving and references to the marine world, with special attention paid to people with disabilities;
- The leisure bay, intended for relaxation and games for dogs;
- The exercise bay, an open-air gym with sports equipment, including equipment designed for people with disabilities;
- The events bay, which houses a refreshment kiosk and is designed for sports and cultural events.
The park's routes are structured as itineraries of discovery and diffuse education, with information panels also for the blind, educational games, panoramic viewpoints, enhancement of the site's industrial memory and works of art.
The park is designed to offer a rich sensorial and experiential experience, in the most inclusive way possible, guaranteeing accessibility to all types of users, by age and physical ability, promoting physical and mental wellbeing.
