Genova Capital of Urban Downhill
Following the success of the first edition, characterised by incredible acrobatics and a crowd of 35,000 spectators, Genova is preparing to become the only Italian stage of "Red Bull Cerro Abajo", the world's most extreme and spectacular urban downhill circuit.
The best riders in the world, such as Tomáš Slavík, Juan Fernando Vélez, Pedro Ferreira, Lucas Borba, Adrien Lorón, and Bernard Kerr, will compete along steep descents, starting from the mountains and arriving at the sea level, taking advantage of the particular conformation of the Genovese territory. The competition will take place over a course of 2.2 km with a total altitude difference of 279 metres, winding from Monte Peralto through creuze and caruggi, passing steep stairways, sharp curves and narrow passages, to Largo della Zecca.
The stage will take place on 24 August 2025 and “la Superba” is confirmed for the next three years in the Red Bull Cerro Abajo calendar. This event is a source of pride for the city, given its global importance and the international visibility it will offer to the Genova landscape.
Genova is increasingly confirmed as the capital of outdoor sport, with important spin-offs on tourism and the local economy.
